Vol. 1 Chapter 2.3 – Tried Doing M&A for a Gyaru JK
by PinkPanther“Whyyyyyy──!?!”
Issei’s voice echoed throughout the entire mansion and Chitose pressed her fingers to her brow.
This whole situation felt familiar.
“Why! Why is this happening!?”
“If you omit both the subject and the predicate, I’m afraid I have no idea how to answer you.”
Chitose said calmly to Issei, who had stomped his way into the room.
“I did exactly what you said—I earned those so-called 『affection points.』And yet, she still wouldn’t show me her panties. That’s what I want to know—why!?”
“Bocchama…”
Chitose let out a long, long sigh.
“…I hate to even ask, but… you said it again, didn’t you?”
“Said what?”
“You know—asked her to show you her pan—her underwear, right?”
“But of course.”
“Then it’s exactly the same as last time.”
“But you told me if I raised her affection level──”
“Yes. I did say to raise her affection. Had she trusted you enough, you could have gotten your precious little 『souvenir』without demanding it like that.”
“It hurt, you know.”
“As it should. Consider it a lesson in the wrath of a maiden.”
“Now that you mention it… why do they get angry?”
“You’ll never understand that, Bocchama. So I won’t even try explaining.”
“Well, that’s not important.”
At Issei’s dismissive comment, Chitose sighed again. This was the kind of Master he was.
Even the reason she herself had gotten angry the other day had been brushed aside with “not important.”
“The real issue is the affection level.”
“I definitely raised it. I spent an entire day doing it.”
“It takes far more time than that to build trust.”
“What!?”
“You’re back to negative one billion points again.”
“W-what did you say…?”
Issei was visibly shocked.
“Master, you’ve gone back to square one~” said Nanako, who was preparing tea.
She was snacking on a scone while sloppily pouring tea.
──Seriously, what even is she doing.
When both Issei and Chitose glared at her, Nanako flinched and froze.
“…So? What should I do next? Honestly, I’m relying on you alone.”
Chitose’s heart gave a zukun.
That’s not fair. The way he looked a little troubled and said that…
This man really was… He had this instinctive sense for exactly what she wanted to hear…
And he always said it at exactly the moment she wanted to hear it most…
It was just so unfair. He was a born charmer.
To be relied upon by her Master—it was the greatest honor a maid could ask for.
“I expected things might come to this, so I’ve already taken steps.”
“Hmm.”
“I didn’t believe for a second that O-Bocchama would achieve his goal so easily.”
“Hmm. So you don’t trust me, then.”
“That’s not true.”
Chitose gave him a gentle smile.
“I trust you.”
She trusted him—completely. Trusted that her Master would bulldoze straight through every flag in the worst way possible.
“I figured we’d need a backup plan, so I had our people start investigating in advance.”
“Ooh.”
Chitose laid out several documents on the table.
“Ah~ The Black Glasses Squad people, huh~ That’s gotta be rough~ So they do detective work too, huh~”
Nanako commented as she placed a teacup beside the documents.
The scones that should’ve been freshly baked in abundance—only one remained.
“Please stop calling them that.”
“But they wear black glasses~!”
“They are officially known as the Konoe-shuu, our royal guard.” Konoe-shuu1
They were people who had served the Goutokuji family for hundreds of years, generation after generation. Their primary duty was to protect the mansion and its master, but they would carry out other assignments as needed.
“We’ve collected data on her. Family structure. Preferences and hobbies. Likes and dislikes in men. Behavior in middle school. All data required for profiling has been gathered.”
“Hmm.”
“According to the results, her ideal man is: someone who is always watching over her, who supports her and is dependable.”
“Yesss! Senpai! Senpai! Senpaaai!”
Nanako was waving her hand in the air and even jumping up and down.
“…What is it, Nanako.”
Chitose addressed her reluctantly.
“I feel like… most girls are into that kind of guy anyway~!”
“…So, the conclusion?”
“Yes. The conclusion is──”
Ignoring Nanako, Chitose and Issei continued the discussion.
“──You need to increase the amount of time you spend with her.”
“We’re already together at school.”
“Outside of school, too.”
“Hmm.”
“That girl—Fujino Sakiko—works three days a week part-time at a certain family restaurant chain. If you’re with her there as well, you can further increase contact time.”
“A part-time job… That was a form of time-based non-regular employment, wasn’t it.”
Issei searched his memory. The concept of『labor』was distant and unfamiliar to him, but he knew of it as a piece of information.
“By working alongside her as a coworker at the same workplace, you can interact more closely than you even could at school…”
“…But?”
“There’s one problem.”
Chitose sighed, placing her hand on her cheek.
“Bocchama, it’s impossible for you.”
“Why?”
“You’d fail the interview. They wouldn’t hire you.”
“And why is that?”
“It’s a reason you would never be able to understand.”
Chitose let out a deep, heavy sigh.
There was no way someone like him would ever pass an interview. Even in this era of severe labor shortages, it was absolutely impossible. At the very least, if it were up to her, she’d reject him without hesitation.
“Hmm. I don’t know the reason why, but it seems I wouldn’t pass this so-called hiring exam, correct?”
“Exactly,” Chitose replied with absolute certainty.
“Then buy it.”
“…Excuse me?”
Chitose blinked and asked back dumbly, not quite grasping what Issei meant.
“That family restaurant—it’s managed by some food service chain, is it not?”
“Yes, that’s correct, but…”
“Then acquire that chain. Launch an M&A. Take it over.”
“…Excuse me?”
Chitose again asked back, this time with a face that could only be described as utterly dumbfounded.
She didn’t understand what he was saying.
No, she did understand the words he was saying. She just couldn’t comprehend why he was saying them. It made no sense.
“Even if I can’t be hired as a normal worker through standard procedures, if we obtain managerial control of the company, then by issuing executive orders, it becomes possible to have them employ me.”
She had absolutely no idea what he was talking about.
She wanted to sit him down for an hour and explain the true meaning of the word labor.
“U-uhm…”
“Your answer? Respond with either ‘Yes’ or ‘Yes.’”
“Master~! I think those both mean the same thing~!” Nanako chirped.
“Y…yes. Understood. I will begin acquisition procedures immediately.”
Chitose finally, somehow, managed to give her reply.
